8 People Who Are Successful After Dropping Out of School

Many of the most successful actors, singers, and technology innovators didn"t need a college degree or even a high school diploma. Sometimes they quit to pursue their entertainment dreams. In other cases, they had a brilliant idea that demanded all of their attention and made it impossible to continue their education. Here are eight people who rose to the top despite not having a degree.

Bill Gates

Gates was a bright, intelligent man from an early age. He wrote his first computer program at the age of 13 and continued to be a brainy person. After being caught using bugs in Microsoft"s operating system to gain free computer time, Gates and Paul Allen, his Microsoft co-founder, were banned from using the computers at a technology company during the summer. He was accepted to Harvard after scoring 1590 on the SATs. After his sophomore year, he decided to leave to focus on the company that would become Microsoft. He was, for the longest time, the world"s richest person.
